Hey friends! Thank you so much for joining me on this adventure! Many people have asked me, “How did you get into wildlife photography?” The quick answer is that I’ve always loved nature and art so why not combine them! Growing up, my dad took me to the woods or river every chance he got to go hunting and fishing. These daddy-daughter adventures made me fall in love with the outdoors and create cherished memories with him. He would often call it his “church” because he felt close to God. This alone taught me that you don’t only find God inside the church, He’s outside dwelling in His own creation! John O’Leary, the pastor at my church (First Methodist Monroe), recently preached about how Jesus would retreat to the wilderness to pray and connect to God (check out Matthew 14:23 and Luke 5:16). John referred to nature as a “holy classroom” and a place to connect with the Lord. This immediately resonated with me because that is exactly what I had been doing! The coolest part is that I heard this sermon the same day I launched this website...talk about clarity from God! His timing is really the best!
Nature and wildlife is a refuge for my mind and I talk to God every time I go out. I have a beautiful and blessed life but like most people, I still get overwhelmed and have always struggled with anxiety. Wildlife photography has opened up a door to the “holy classroom” where I can immerse myself into his creation and talk to God without distractions (except by an occasional alligator). I’m so excited to share this journey and keep following along for more!
love, Jana
